While on vacation, I’ve been working on an updated version of the popular religious poem “Footprints in the Sand” – it’s this place, just gets the creative juices a flowin’!
I’m not finished yet, but I hope you don’t mind me sharing a portion of what I have so far:
“I noticed in those most trying times, there was only one set of footprints, and this troubled me. So I asked my father about it.”
“My child, when you saw only one set of footprints, in those unbearably hot moments, when the sand and sweat stuck to us like misery distilled to its purest form, when the van seemed a million miles away, when our water was gone and you and your siblings were fighting like deranged octopi – it was then that I carried you. . . and a sack of goggles and a chair and an orthopedic boot and half a dozen wet towels and shirts and an assortment of flip flops which may or may not have belonged to us and a growing sense that this MIGHT have been a colossal mistake.”
Love it!
