When I was a kid, I wanted to grow up to become a professional baseball player. I wanted to make a living playing a game that I loved. To wait expectantly in the freshly-cut grass on a beautiful spring day. To feel the fine grit of dirt beneath my cleats as I try to turn a single into a double. To hear the roar of the crowd and the crack of the bat on some of the most beautiful and majestic pieces of property on God’s creation.
Flash forward 30 years, and it didn’t exactly pan out that way. But — BUT! — yesterday, I headed to work with a sense of giddy, childlike anticipation because overnight they installed a new version of Microsoft Office and I could not wait to try it!
Dreams don’t die, they simply turn into other dreams. . .Other, somewhat sadder, dreams.
