The story of Abraham and Isaac from Genesis 22, where Abraham nearly sacrificed Isaac but was stopped at the last moment, is an powerful story of faith. However, I imagine that after that event, that father-son relationship was never quite the same.
Abe: “Hey son. I was gonna run into town and grab some supplies. Want to come with?”
Isaac: “Uh, Just the two of us?”
“Yep.”
“You know what dad, I’m good.”
“This is about the whole Mt. Moriah thing, isn’t it?”
“You mean that time you tied me to an alter and raised that weird knife up over your head, and now I can’t be around sheep or hear the word “flint” without losing control of my bladder? No, dad, that’s not it at all!”
Awkward.
